Hot Dog, the LAP ball is finally rolling! Our first LAP of the season we had more participants than originally anticipated. Five showings, BUT we had to push for that. Sallie and I feared we would be the only two. Where are all of you? You're missing out. At least expose yourself to the world of LAP before you cast it off as another organized event that you refuse to be part of -you know who you are. Make the effort to actually show up and THEN make an assessment. Whether your showing or just chillin' in the audience, your presence is greatly desired. Which reminds me...
Photos of the February 2nd show are now posted! Check the new media section "Photos Spring 2011." Unfortunately my camera wasn't cooperating with the lighting, so they are a bit fuzzy around the edges. But I figured I would post them anyway because if the poor focus evokes a strong feeling of annoyance in all you OCD'ers, maybe you'll see it live next time (hint hint).
In related news, trans-disciplinary artist John Boehme will be giving a talk at 6:00 P.M. on February 23, COINCIDENTALLY located in the LAP space, APMA room 127. Are you marking your calendars yet? Boehme's artworks synthesize performance, video, sound, and objects, so there's no excuse to not show up because he's "not related to your major." LAP will follow right after, and who knows...maybe you'll be privy to witness an impromptu performance by Boehme during LAP. Geez, this LAP stuff is sounding better and better, isn't it? Maybe you should check it out this time.
Sallie and I are working hard on our next performances, but we shouldn't be the only ones. Please show at LAP, it's a great venue to connect the community to your artwork or works in progress -so why not do it? You only stand to gain. All mediums are welcome. Remember, email [email protected]. Or just show up at any performance night to be put on the roster!
Oh and did you see the John Boehme flier? It's pretty awesome. ;) See you at the space!
