FALL BACK? LET'S SPRING FORWARD!

Hello all!

Welcome back to another semester of Live Art Platform. Our first event of the season starts at 7:00 p.m. MONDAY, September 12th. Yes, that's right, we are moving LAP to Mondays this semester. Due to intense scheduling, Sallie and I will continue to host and run the LAP scene for all you loves this fall. Check out the new dates and times for LAP on the Schedule page.

This semester Sallie and I are really looking forward to transforming the LAP scene into a regular, more populated event for ASU, by way of creating a Live Art Club! Currently, we are in the works to create an official club for ASU students. The goal of creating this club is to expand the horizons of students interested in contemporary live art. Workshops, artist lectures, practice and critique for works in progress are only some of the regular agenda we have in store for members. By creating this club, we hope members will use the opportunity to show and perform at LAP events.

In other related news, I am currently in the far reaches of Cleveland, Ohio -my home town. How is this related? Well, for one, I am reconnecting with old friends who happen to be artists. Just last night I was honored to witness a private fire-spinning performance put on by my very good friend, Corbin. It was positively exhilarating as well as frightening to see such speed and accuracy working in tandem
with beautiful movement and dare I say, dance? Corbin plans to put on a public performance later during my stay to further demonstrate his discipline over fire spinning, eating, spitting, etc. Although I crave to witness his stylings with my naked eye, I can't help but sit behind the lens of my camera to capture this phenomena. Enjoy some of the selected photos I have posted!

It's only been 3 days in Ohio and I'm already gushing with inspiration for my first performance at LAP. I hope summer has afforded all of you time to kick back and relax. In my time, I've discovered my strongest inspiration for artwork stems right after a good session of yoga. It's amazing to me how the mind becomes uncluttered after working the body. Of course, this isn't to say exercise is the only way to clear our weary minds...

I highly encourage everyone to participate and collaborate with Sallie and I for LAP this semester. More than ever, we need the support and help of students, alums, and interested humans to perpetuate LAP (and soon, Live Art Club). Do you like taking pictures? Working with lights? Working with people? You do not need to limit yourself to performing at LAP. We are always infinitely grateful to anyone willing to lend a helping hand during event nights. Who knows? Maybe you'll find yourself clear of mind once you experience LAP. In front and center, or back in the scaffolding, I invite you to be part of LAP for the first time, or once again. See you at the space!
